What to expect from a BodyTalk session

BodyTalk was developed in the 1990s by Dr. John Veltheim, an Australian chiropractor, acupuncturist, philosopher, and teacher. The system combines Western medical principles, acupuncture, applied kinesiology, and quantum physics. BodyTalk is a simple, non-invasive modality based on the belief that healing happens when all the parts and systems of the body are able to communicate with each other. Our bodies are like complex ecosystems. As such, they need to strike a delicate balance and communication among physiological functions, emotional and mental factors, as well as environmental and genetic influences.

However, internal or external stress can cause communication among these elements to break down and result in discomfort and disease. These symptoms are the tip of the iceberg. BodyTalk identifies underlying causes and uses a light tapping technique to restore intercellular communication that invokes the body's own inherent healing power.

Here’s an overview of what you might expect during the session:

1. Warm Welcome and Discussion: When you arrive, you’ll be greeted warmly by your BodyTalk practitioner. The session usually begins with a friendly conversation where you share your health concerns, symptoms, and any goals you have for the session. This is your chance to explain what’s been bothering you, whether it’s physical pain, emotional stress, or something else.

2. Assessment: The practitioner will perform a gentle muscle-testing technique, often called “neuromuscular feedback,” to identify areas where your body might be out of balance. They may also ask you to hold various positions or statements to gauge how your body responds.

3. Communication with the Body: One of the core aspects of BodyTalk is that the practitioner will use a technique called "accessing the body’s innate wisdom." They might use light tapping or other non-invasive methods to help your body’s systems communicate more effectively. The idea is to identify and address any disruptions in your body’s natural energy flow.

4. Balancing Techniques: Based on the findings, the practitioner will apply specific BodyTalk techniques to help restore balance. This might include tapping on points on your body, visualizing healing, or guiding your body through various energetic exercises. The goal is to support your body’s self-healing mechanisms and improve overall function.

5. Relaxation and Reflection: During the session, you’ll likely feel deeply relaxed. Some people experience a sense of release or emotional shifts. It’s a time to let go and allow the BodyTalk process to work.

6. Post-Session Discussion: After the balancing techniques, the practitioner will discuss what was addressed during the session. They may offer insights into what they found and suggest ways to support your healing journey moving forward, such as lifestyle adjustments or additional sessions.

7. Follow-Up: Depending on your needs, the practitioner might recommend follow-up sessions to continue supporting your body’s balance and healing process. They’ll work with you to create a plan that suits your goals and helps maintain the improvements you’ve experienced.

BodyTalk sessions are generally gentle and non-invasive. The experience can be deeply relaxing and sometimes even emotional. If you have any questions or concerns during the session, don’t hesitate to ask the practitioner—they’re there to guide and support you throughout the process. This can be done in person or at a distance. You can find more information about this modality on their website, https://www.bodytalksystem.com
